The European Workshop Med/Pharma BT in Europe (co-organized by ICARST) has ended

On June 4th, 2019, the European Workshop "Trends and Prospects in Medicinal and Pharma Biotechnologies in Europe: Towards Strengthening Regional Cooperation Including CEE Countries", which was organized by the Faculty of Natural Sciences (FNS), University of SS. Cyril and Methodius (UCM) in Trnava with funding and organizational support from International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Central European Initiative (CEI) both in Trieste, ItalyandJoint Research Centre of European Commission (JRC-EC) in Geel, Belgium and also in cooperation with International Centre for Applied Research and Sustainable Technology (ICARST) in Bratislava, Slovakia, Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) in Brno, Czech Republic and European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association (EBTNA). The Workshop was held the under auspices of Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of Slovak Republic and support from Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.

International advisory board included Dr. G. Van Den Eede (JRC-EC, Brussels, Belgium), Dr. G. Kogan (EC, DG RTD, Brussels, Belgium), Dr. P. Canciani (CEI, Trieste, Italy), Dr. G. Rosso-Cicogna (ICGEB, Trieste, Italy), Prof. O. Kayser (University of Dortmund, Germany), Dr. M. Dettenhofer (CEITEC, Brno, Czech Republic), Dr. M. Bertelli (MAGI, Italy), Prof. S. Pastoreková (SAS, Bratislava, Slovakia), Prof. M. Dundar (EBTNA, Turkey), and Prof. S. Miertuš (UCM and ICARST, Trnava, Slovakia).

ICGEB - CEI - JRC-EC - UCM European Workshop was opened to researchers, technologists, industrial representatives and entrepreneurs, experts, and representatives from international organizations and NGO, governmental officers, involved in the field of Biotechnology (BT) from the whole of Europe, however with a particular focus on Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. The Workshop was co-sponsored by ICGEB, CEI and JRC-EC. Key speakers and limited number of invited participants from CEE countries were supported, covering their costs associated with travel, meals, and accommodation.
