Prof. Stanislav Miertus, DG ICARST, awarded for the exceptional scientific response to the scietific publication

When evaluating results of the ICARST during the year 2017 it was appreciated that professor S. Miertus has been awarded by Slovak Literary Fund for the exceptional scientific response to the scietific publication (citations).

The paper S. Miertus, E. Scrocco, J. Tomasi: Electrostatic Interaction of one Molecule with a Continuun. A direct Utilization of ab initio Molecular Potentials for the Prevision of Solvent Effects Chem. Physics, 55, 117 (1981) has been cited till the end of 2017 more than 5 800 x according to the Scopus database.

This paper first time described a new method (called also as Miertus-Scrocco-Tomasi method) of evaluation effect of environment (solvent) on the electronic structure and properties of molecules. It is now uses worldwide by thousands of scientific laboratories. The publication belongs to the most cited papers of Slovak scientists.
